A raspberry and blueberry smoothie

Here is a second recipe for a healthy smoothie, made with raspberries and blueberries 🕊🌸 I just made the smoothie on Sunday, and added a couple of ingredients we had at home I enjoy a lot and are quite healthy. The smoothie recipe is quite simple and easy to make and you could hopefully find the ingredients for the smoothie in your garden or at your local shop too. The ingredients included in the smoothie include banana, raspberries, blueberries, almond milk, Greek yogurt, ground almonds and chia seeds. I enjoy making the smoothie both in the morning for breakfast, or for morning or afternoon tea as it is quite healthy and filling with the banana and the Greek yogurt.

A raspberry and blueberry smoothie

  • 1/2 of a banana
  • 1/2 a cup of raspberries (could include fresh or frozen raspberries)
  • 1/4 of a cup of blueberries (could include fresh or frozen blueberries)
  • 1/2 a cup of almond milk (I use an unsweetened almond milk, although any other kind of milk or plant based milk would be ok if you prefer)
  • 1/3 of a cup of Greek yogurt (I use a thick and creamy Greek yogurt although you could also include any other kind of yogurt you enjoy, including plant based yoghurt)
  • 1 tablespoon of ground almonds (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons of chia seeds (optional)

Add all of the ingredients to a blender or smoothie maker and whiz for about 2 minutes until smooth. You could also add a little more almond milk (or other kind of milk) in case you prefer the smoothie to be a little thinner. Pour the smoothie into a glass or a cup and enjoy 🕊🌸

(serves 1)

You could include a different kind of berry (or mixed berries) if you would prefer, and in case you don’t have ground almonds or chia seeds it would be ok to make the smoothie without. Please note if you include the chia seeds, they help to add a healthy flavour and in case you don’t drink the smoothie right away, the chia seeds will expand and the smoothie will be a bit thicker. You could also add a healthy powder to the smoothie, including a protein powder in case you often use a protein powder, or a healthy superfood powder, including maca powder or raw cacao powder. You could also add any other kind of ingredient you enjoy 🌸

As noted in the 100 Best Health Foods book, almonds are rich in monounsaturated fats and take quite a long time for the body to digest, due to the high fat content. Almonds are also noted to be very high in the antioxidant vitamin E, which helps to keep skin healthy and to protect the body against skin problems. Further, almonds are higher in calcium than almost any other kind of plant food, and are thus noted to be an excellent addition to vegan diets or to those who don’t eat dairy products.

Please note: I also wrote an earlier blog post sharing a recipe for a strawberry smoothie, a lemon and honey drink, a lavender and honey face scrub, a couple of healthy muffins, a couple of honey recipes, a hot chocolate recipe by Deliciously Ella, blueberry muffins and oats with almond milk and raspberries, in case you would like to read a couple more posts sharing a couple of healthy recipes (please check the links) 🍓🌸
