Here is a simple recipe for a raspberry and pear drink, made with fresh pears and raspberries. The recipe is from a book called 100 Best Health Foods, which has a lot of beautiful recipes made with healthy ingredients from a number of different food groups, including fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts and seeds, and also notes a lot of nutritional information about the healthy foods. The recipe has just a couple of ingredients, including fresh pears, raspberries, water and honey, you could hopefully find in your garden or at your local shop 🌸 the recipe could also be lovely to make in the autumn when pears are in season and you could hopefully be able to find fresh pears a bit easier 🕊🌸
A raspberry and pear recipe
- 2 large, ripe Conference pears
- 125 g of frozen raspberries
- 200 mls of ice cold water
- clear honey, to taste (optional)
- fresh raspberries, for decorating (optional)
Peel and quarter the pears, removing the cores. Place the pears in a blender with the raspberries and water and process until smooth.
Taste and sweeten with honey if the raspberries are a little sharp. Pour into chilled glasses, decorate with raspberries (if using) and serve.
As noted in the 100 Best Health Foods book, raspberries are high in vitamin C and fibre and contain good amounts of iron, which the body is able to absorb well because of the high amounts of vitamin C. Raspberries are also noted to be high in antioxidants to help to protect the heart, and are one of the most nutritious fruits.
As noted in the 100 Best Health Foods book, pears are a safe fruit for most children and for people who suffer from food allergies, and are also a good source of a range of nutrients, including vitamin C and potassium. Pears are also noted to contain hydroxycinnamic acids, antioxidants which are antibacterial and also help to prevent cancer.
