A Q&A with Kate

Here is a post to share a Q&A with Kate, a childhood friend from kindy (we first became friends when we were about 3 or 4) πŸ•Š Kate is quite tall with blonde, light brown hair and blue eyes and she has always had light pink rosey cheeks and been a kind, safe and reliable friend πŸ€— Kate finished studying and graduated from a university in wellington a couple of years ago, where she studied a Bachelor of Laws degree, and she also loves to be outside in nature, in the countryside and to go horse riding with her horses and pups. In the post, Kate notes a bit about one of her favourite natural beauty care products, shares a couple of tips for some one who could be a beginner at horse riding and learning to be around horses, and a couple of study tips for some one who could be just beginning at uni.

A Q&A with Kate

1 are there any natural beauty care or skin care care tips you could share or products you enjoy using a lot and often use ?

Kate: I really like the Burt’s Bees lip balm range. I really love beeswax products and it’s always good to stop and be grateful for all the things bees give us !

2 you also love animals a lot and often go horse riding with a couple of your horses in the countryside, are there any tips you could share with some one who could be a beginner at horse riding and learning how to be around horses ?

Kate: horses have been a big part of my life since I was 4 years old. I think the main things for being around horses are confidence and patience. You need to remember that at the end of the day you’re dealing with a 400 kg animal (that doesn’t speak English) and that they could flatten you at any moment but choose not to because they respect you as the leader. With any leadership you need to make sure boundaries are adhered to but that you do not do anything to breach the faith they put in you.

3 you also studied law at uni and graduated with a law degree, are there any study tips you could share with some one who could be just beginning at uni or any tips about studying law which could be helpful ?

Kate: studying law, as with studying anything, is stressful and busy but rewarding. I think it is easy to get into stressful and anxious frames of mind when you’re at university. It is a very artificial environment (not necessarily having a consistent routine, and always feeling like there is more you could be doing !) I think study can be quite consuming in that you get quite tunnel visioned about what you are learning (which at times can be a good thing too) but you forget that there’s a whole world out there that has nothing to do with this exam or this assignment ! what helped me was keeping interests outside of law school that gave me perspective and grounded me and helped me to keep a clear head. A calm head is twice as good as a frantic head when you’re walking into an exam – even if it knows half as much (in my opinion)

thank you so much Kate for sharing one of your favourite natural beauty care products, a couple of helpful tips for some one who could be a beginner in horse riding and learning how to feel comfortable around horses, and a couple of helpful study tips and ideas for keeping as calm as possible when studying at university ! your answers are so careful and helpful and thank you so much for sharing them and a beautiful photo of one of your horses and pups in the countryside πŸ•Š in case you could be hoping to find Kate, her instagram page is @melvilk (please check the link)
